1. What do you love about your profession?
I like being presented with a problem (dysfunction within the body) and having the challenge to solve the puzzle in order to help someone feel better. The fact that you can see tangible progress/ results in helping someone achieve better health is pretty cool. I also love that I get to walk alongside my clients through life events. I love to hear about all the exciting things going on in my client’s lives (when they feel like sharing) and be able to care for them through it all. As I approach nearly a decade in practice, I can reflect on all the pregnancies; engagements; marriages; graduations and so much more that I have had the privilege of hearing about month after month.
2. Why did you become an RMT?
I was fascinated by Anatomy and Physiology from a young age and have always found it rewarding to help people. My original plan was to continue my education after Massage Therapy school to become an Athletic Therapist but as I went through school, I learned just how much I could rehabilitate injuries and help lessen people’s aches and pains as an RMT and never looked back.
3. Do you have any additional training as an RMT that people might want to know?
I have taken a course in myofascial cupping techniques
4. If you weren’t an RMT, what would you be?
The day I graduated from Massage Therapy school I went out for dinner with my family to celebrate after the graduation ceremony. While at dinner I told everyone that I wanted to go back to school to be a psychotherapist. I was joking- I LOVE my job! But if I didn’t love it quite so much, I would strongly consider this option.
5. Tell us one thing you are passionate about outside of your work 🙂
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a crazy dog lady! My dogs are my world and I am very passionate about training with them whenever we have free time. My husband and I have also raised service dogs for many years, though we’ve unfortunately had to put that on hold while we go through some house renos. We hope to be back to it soon!
Bonus question: Favourite food?
Ohhhh! Carbs for sure! Some fresh baked bread or pasta for sure!! (If you ever need to bribe me for anything- this is the way!!)
