Adriana is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) who has been working in private practice for over 12 years. She is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) and is also a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists (OACCPP). She received her B.A in Psychology from York University in 2006 and her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2012.
Adriana has been working in practice with adults since 2011 and through the years has found herself specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression and trauma-related difficulties. She has also gained vast experience in treating symptoms associated with stress, anger, substance abuse, disordered eating, interpersonal issues and any other difficulties related to an individual’s unhappiness and lack of meaning/purpose in their lives. Lastly, she offers training in assertiveness, conflict resolution and strength-based/positive parenting.
As a therapist, she is strongly committed to helping her clients gain the valuable insight and build the crucial awareness needed to uncover their authentic selves. With a strong focus on the relationships we surround ourselves with, Adriana will make use of interpersonal therapies to help clients with the various issues they carry with them from their past, present and moving into the future. Through the development of a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship, you will develop an integrative treatment plan that will serve as a guide to initiate change and to encourage and adopt a self-led approach to healing and growth. These shifts are facilitated by providing a very safe and highly compassionate environment, which is necessary for a client to truly connect to their voice within.
Adriana is extremely passionate and dedicated to helping her clients’ honour all parts of themselves, understanding that self-worth is a very fragile part of each and every human being and that it must be handled with extreme care and compassion. She believes that in working from the inside out, self-worth and confidence builds alongside the therapeutic journey, initiating self-love, self-acceptance and the realization that we already have within us all we need to grow into our authentic selves.
By working within a solution focused and Cognitive-Behavioural approach, Adriana helps clients gain the opportunity to become skilled at managing and coping with the negative and unwanted thoughts and behaviours that are preventing them from living the life they desire. When combined with a client-centered and emotion-focused approach, clients further have a chance to both explore and discover the underlying sources of their long-standing issues, to develop a strong sense of their intrinsic selves, and to become the vital source of meaningful change in their lives.
Adriana is a mother of two young boys and she has just entered her 40’s trusting that she is exactly where she needs to be in life and has gained a strong awareness of what to dedicate her time and energy to. She strongly recognizes the “human” in her, with all of her imperfections and all of her grievances and she deeply respects and meets with the “human” in her clients. Through her years of experience, one thing she knows for certain is that what connects us all is our “humanness” and that in order to have any successful therapeutic interventions our “sameness” must be acknowledged before our differences. This is how we build compassion and understanding for ourselves, which is the very foundation for growth in therapy.
