Despite the start of rising temperatures and bloom of colours, Spring time is a common season in which those with seasonal allergies begin suffering with runny noses, sneezing, and itchy eyes.
But don’t fret! Naturopathic Medicine is here to help!
Here are a few tips that you can consider. Be sure to check with your Naturopath to ensure you recieve the most appropriate treatment for your health.
– Get rid of irritating foods
Limiting the amount of dairy, alcohol, and sugar from your diet is essential. Remove foods that your body disagrees with to help establish a more balanced internal immune environment.
– Vitamin C and Quercetin
Vitamin C and quercetin both act as natural anti-histamines that can reduce the immune system’s over reaction which contributes to seasonal allergies.
– Probiotics
Digestion plays an integral role in managing our immune system so ensuring that you use a good probiotic (such as acidophilus or bifidophilus) is essential to support digestive health and balance your gut flora.
– Avoid exposure
Check The Weather Network website for their Pollen Report for your area. On higher count days, you may want to consider exercising indoors.
– Environmental clean up
Consider using an air purifier in your home.
Dust/vacuum regularly.
Use a HEPA filter in your bedroom.
Remove dust collectors such as drapes and rugs.
Avoid the use of synthetic perfumes and fragrances.
